The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) has given the green light to Aloha Green Holdings, Inc., also known as Aloha Green Apothecary, to open its fourth retail dispensary. This move comes as the state continues to expand its medical cannabis program, providing more options for patients across the islands.
The Expansion of Aloha Green Apothecary
Aloha Green Apothecary has passed the final on-site inspection for its fourth retail dispensary, located at 92-1047 Olani St., Unit 1-110, Kapolei, HI, 96707. The new location began sales on July 3, 2023. This addition marks the state’s 23rd retail dispensing location, providing an additional option for patients in West Oahu.
The State of Medical Cannabis in Hawaii
As of June 29, 2023, a total of 33,032 patients and 2,797 caregivers were registered statewide. The primary reported condition for registered adult patients is severe pain, while for children under 18 years of age, the primary reported conditions are seizures and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Other Licensed Retail Centers in Hawaii
In addition to Aloha Green Apothecary, several other licensed retail centers are operating across the state. These include Big Island Grown and Hawaiian Ethos on Hawaii Island, Green Aloha on Kauai Island, Maui Grown Therapies and Pono Life Sciences on Maui Island, and Cure Oahu and Noa Botanicals on Oahu Island.
Medical Cannabis Regulations in Hawaii
Registered patients and their caregivers in Hawaii can purchase up to four ounces of medical cannabis during a 15-consecutive-day period and a maximum of eight ounces over a 30-consecutive-day period. The use of medical cannabis must be on private property and is not allowed in any moving vehicle, at work, at the beach, on hiking trails, or in any other public space. It is also illegal to use or possess medical cannabis on any federally owned property such as military installations and national parks.
